Must read

The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed as false a viral social media video alleging the existence of a “slave house” in the state where children are reportedly being sold.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the police called the claims “completely false” and “a figment of the author’s mischievous imagination.”

The viral video, which has circulated widely across various social media platforms, has raised alarm among residents. However, the police insist that there is no basis for the claim, urging the public to be cautious about spreading unverified information that could incite unnecessary fear.

The statement further appealed to residents to avoid sharing unconfirmed messages simply because they have access to data, emphasizing the potential harm misinformation can cause. “The safety and peace of mind of a lot of good people of Oyo State depend on it,” the police added, warning that such rumours could create unnecessary panic.

The Oyo State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and called on the public to verify information from official sources before sharing it online.

The Oyo State police statement on X (Twitter) stated: “Good Morning Fam! Kindly disregard the viral message making the rounds on some social media spaces about the existence of a Slave house where children are being sold.

“The message is not only completely false but also a figment of the author’s mischievous imagination.

“Let’s discourage the spread of unverified information just because we can afford data. The safety and peace of mind of a lot of good people of Oyo State depend on it. Control room number: 08081768614.”
