According to the Ebonyi Police Command, a man identified as Michael Nnaji was discovered dead after being killed and set ablaze by gunmen in the state’s Ngbo-Amaka neighbourhood in the Ngbo community’s Ohaukwu Local Government.
The incident happened Tuesday night, state police public relations officer DSP Joshua Ukandu informed reporters in Abakaliki on Wednesday.
“Yes, we are aware of the incident, but we are yet to get the details of what happened in the area,” said Mr Ukandu, who said the police had begun an investigation.
“Yes, I am yet to be briefed, and I must tell you, the state police command will carry out an in-depth investigation into the matter.
“We are assuring that the perpetrators will be apprehended and prosecuted,” Mr Ukandu said.
Resident Joy Nwankwor also responded to the event, stating that the victim, a businessman, was killed on Tuesday night.
“The hoodlum operated with a motorcycle. After shooting him, his corpse was set ablaze. His body has been taken to Ezzamgbo General Hospital mortuary,” she stated.
