Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday issued a warning to Senator Osita Ngwu on his comments regarding Ministerial candidate, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu’s appearance during her Senate screening.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu presented her qualifications for screening as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs together with six other nominees.
President of the Senate, Akpabio allowed questions after her presentation.
Senator Ngwu, speaking for the Enugu West District, started by praising Odumegwu-Ojukwu’s appearance, but Akpabio quickly corrected him, shifting the conversation back to the nominee’s credentials.
“Mr President, the beautiful nominee standing before us,” the lawmaker said.
“Restrict yourself to the resume. Forget this word beautiful,” Akpabio interjected jocularly. “She didn’t put in the CV that she is beautiful. The CV says beautiful Bianca.”
The member then went on to praise the nominee’s qualifications and profile.
Meanwhile, the senator for Abia South District, Enyinnaya Abaribe, stated that there was no question about Bianca’s performance and competency.
He also commended President Bola Tinubu for nominating the “mother” of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as a minister. “Bringing an APGA person to be a minister has already started a unity government and national integration,” Abaribe said.
Following the interactions, the nominee was requested to bow and take a leave.
AFRIPOST reports that Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu is a successful diplomat, attorney, entrepreneur, and former beauty pageant winner.
