Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello, recently suspended by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has publicly denied allegations of homosexuality brought against him.
The suspension, announced in an RCCG letter dated October 28 and signed by the National Overseer, Sunday Akande, involved AdeBello and another pastor amid accusations of inappropriate conduct.
The letter mandated a comprehensive investigation.
In response, AdeBello took to Instagram to refute the claims, stating, “I never engaged in sodomy with male teenagers.”
He explained that his initial silence had been misinterpreted as an admission of guilt, compelling him to address the matter.
In his statement, AdeBello recounted, “Over recent days, allegations surfaced against me on social media via a blog known as Gist Lover. Initially, I refrained from responding as advised, believing all named individuals might be mentioned simply to drive online engagement.”
However, he felt compelled to speak out when the accusations escalated to criminal claims.
“I have NEVER demanded or suggested sexual acts as a condition for offering assistance, platforms, or positions,” AdeBello stated, emphasizing, “God alone is the king-maker.”
He clarified the context behind screenshots circulating online, noting that they were part of a WhatsApp group conversation focused on male reproductive health and self-esteem among teenage boys.
“The discussions covered appropriate hygiene, selecting suitable underwear based on size, and boosting self-esteem,” AdeBello explained, adding, “It’s disheartening to see these messages now misquoted to falsely portray me.”
AdeBello reiterated his innocence, affirming that he has never engaged in or proposed any form of sexual conduct with young men and is determined to clear his name amid the ongoing investigation.
