The Senate has rescheduled the seven new ministerial nominees’ screening until Wednesday.
In a statement released on Tuesday, President Tinubu’s special adviser on Senate affairs, Basheer Lado, revealed this.
The screening was meant to commence on Tuesday when the legislators gather for plenary, according to a previous announcement made by Mr. Lado, a former senator who served as the representative for Kano Central Senatorial District from 2011 to 2015.
However, only minutes after the plenary began, the presidential assistant released a second statement declaring that the screening would be postponed so that the nominees could finish their documentation and other pre-screening procedures.
“The scheduled screening of Ministerial nominees has been postponed by the senate. This is to allow all nominees to conclude all aspects of documentation and pre-screening exercises.
“The screening has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at noon prompt,” the statement reads.
The Nigerian Constitution’s Section 147 governs the screening. The Committee of a Whole will screen the nominations, and the senators will interrogate them.
