IPOB declares Nnamdi Kanu as sole founder, accuses Nigerian Army

Must read

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused the Nigerian Army of attempting to mislead judges overseeing the case of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, by spreading false information about the group.

In a statement issued by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group vehemently rejected claims made by the Nigerian Army regarding the arrest of Kanu, labeling them as fabrications intended to intimidate the judiciary.

IPOB described these assertions as baseless and part of a pattern of misinformation aimed at influencing judicial proceedings.

The statement noted that whenever significant court dates approach regarding Kanu, the Army tends to release fabricated news about arrests or violence against IPOB members. IPOB criticized the Army for attempting to project an image of authority while lacking integrity, insisting that the origins of IPOB are well-documented and publicly known, pre-dating any alleged misrepresentation by the military.

IPOB further questioned the Army’s claims, asking if they were unaware that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is the recognized founder and leader of the group, especially given the unlawful charges brought against him. They challenged the Army to clarify who the so-called “new founder” of IPOB might be following Kanu’s arrest.

The statement continued, asserting that past attempts to suppress IPOB have failed and expressed confidence that the current efforts will be no different. IPOB emphasized that any statements made by the Army regarding its leadership should be met with skepticism, asserting that the Army’s actions reflect a lack of honor and respect.

IPOB urged the public to dismiss what it termed “shameless propaganda” from the Nigerian Army, emphasizing the need for transparency and integrity in legal proceedings involving Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
