President Bola Tinubu has issued an urgent directive to address the ongoing blackout affecting northern Nigeria due to vandalism, which has severely disrupted daily life and business in the region.
Recall that Afripost had recently reported the prevailing power outage in troubling residents of the Northern region of the country.
However, on Monday, the President tasked Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) with expediting efforts to restore power to the affected states.
According to a statement from presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu was recently briefed by Minister Adelabu on TCN’s ongoing repairs to the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line, which sustained damage.
To ensure the safety of repair crews, President Tinubu has instructed the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to deploy security personnel, including Army and Air Force support, to protect engineers working on the transmission line.
While appealing, the President called on traditional leaders and local communities to support these efforts by helping to safeguard public infrastructure.
