How NDLEA rejected ₦10m bribe, arrested Lagos drug Dealers

The Lagos State branch of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has turned down a ₦10 million bribe offered to release one Tsolaye Eburajolo, who was allegedly involved in illegal drug activities.

This incident occurred as the NDLEA seized 26,250,000 tramadol pills and 508,400 bottles of codeine syrup, worth approximately ₦16.68 billion, from a suspected drug trafficker.

The illegal items were discovered during a joint inspection of flagged containers at Tincan Port in Lagos and Port Harcourt Port, Onne, in Rivers State, on October 22 and 23.

The inspection was carried out with support from the Customs Service and other security agencies.

Eburajolo, 40, was arrested in the Ago Palace area of Okota, Lagos, in connection with the drug seizures.

According to a statement by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the attempted bribe is now part of the evidence collected for Eburajolo’s prosecution.

Further inspections uncovered 10 million Toradol Benzhexol tablets and 28 drums of methamphetamine weighing 700 kg, which were intercepted at Tincan and Onne ports, respectively.

Additionally, 56 parcels (weighing 28 kg) of “Loud,” a synthetic form of cannabis, were found in a container from Canada at Lagos Port.

The NDLEA also recovered 293 ampoules of promethazine and pentazocine injections, along with 1.69 kg of cannabis and tramadol tablets hidden in hair attachments and shoe soles.

These items were intercepted in shipments bound for the U.S., U.K., and Oman at three courier firms.

In another operation on October 12, 2024, 2,118 tramadol pills were found hidden in the soles of 13 pairs of shoes destined for Cyprus at the Lagos airport export shed. During a follow-up operation on October 24, an additional 380 tablets were seized from the residence of Okenwa Kelvin Uchenna in Enugu.
