Emeason Chima, an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has been kidnapped in Nsukka, Enugu State, with the abductors demanding a ransom of N50 million.
Chima, who is assigned to the FRSC’s RS4.211 Ugbokolo unit, was taken on Saturday near Maduka University.
According to an internal memo from the FRSC, he was driving alone in his Toyota sedan when the gunmen struck.
The kidnappers reached out to Emmanuel Al-Hassan, the Ugbokolo unit commander, using Chima’s phone to relay their ransom demand.
The memo, signed by Al-Hassan, stated: “We have received information regarding the kidnapping of SRMA Emeason Chima.
The incident occurred after Maduka University on the Nsukka-Enugu Road near OPI junction. It has been confirmed that the staff was driving alone in a Toyota saloon car at the time of the abduction.”
The unit commander has since been contacted by the kidnappers, who have demanded a ransom of N50 million for Chima’s release.
The memo concluded by indicating that further details would be provided as the situation develops and requested guidance on the matter.
