Israel launch precise strikes against Iran in retaliatory attack

Must read

Israel has launched “precise strikes on military targets in Iran” early on Saturday calling it a retaliatory attack against Iran.

The strikes, according to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), were retaliation for “months of continuous attacks” by Iran and its regional agents.

AFRIPOST had reported that Iran fired about 200 ballistic missiles against Israel on October 1. Israeli military installations were the focus of that attack.

According to CNN, the Israeli reprisal strike seemed to be restricted to military locations rather than Iranian oil resources or nuclear installations.

The IDF claimed in a statement that it has finished its attacks and that its “mission was fulfilled.” According to the IDF, its planes struck surface-to-air missile installations and missile production sites.

In a statement obtained by NBC News, Iran’s National Air Defence Headquarters minimised Israel’s retaliatory strike, claiming it caused “limited damage” in some places.

The defence agency stated, “This aggressive action was successfully intercepted and countered by the country’s integrated air defence system, although limited damage has been reported in certain areas.”

It recognised that Israel had launched a “provocative attack” against military installations in the provinces of Khuzestan, Ilam, and Tehran.

The statement went on to call Israel’s action “adventurous” and said it disregarded instructions not to attack Iranian homeland targets. However, no potential reaction was mentioned.

“The scope of this incident is currently under investigation,” the defence agency noted.

The attacks coincide with Israel’s continuing conflict against Hamas in adjacent Gaza and its assault on Hezbollah forces in Lebanon who are supported by Iran.
