CAF awards 3 points, 3 goals to Nigeria following Libya saga

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has awarded Nigeria a 3-0 victory and three points in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers after ruling against the Libya Football Federation.

The decision follows Libya’s breach of Article 31 of the AFCON Regulations and Articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.

Match No. 87 between Libya and Nigeria, originally scheduled for October 15, 2024, in Benghazi, was forfeited by Libya, granting Nigeria a 3-0 win.

Additionally, the Libya Football Federation has been fined USD 50,000, with the payment due within 60 days. CAF dismissed all other motions related to the case, making this decision final.
