The body of Miss Precious Yusuf, a 23-year-old woman, was discovered along DLA Road, opposite Falcon Club in Asaba, Delta State, following a visit to a man she reportedly met on a dating website.
Delta State Police Command’s spokesperson, Mr. Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday.
According to Edafe, Miss Yusuf’s body has been taken to the mortuary, where it awaits an autopsy.
Edafe’s statement reads: “The Delta State Police Command expresses condolences to the family of Miss Precious Yusuf, aged 23, whose body was found along DLA Road, opposite Falcon Club in Asaba.
“On October 24, 2024, around 8:40 a.m., the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the ‘A’ Division in Asaba received a distress call reporting the discovery of a young woman’s body at DLA Road, opposite Falcon Club.
“The DPO, CSP Rex Abiodun, promptly mobilized police operatives to the location, where they found the young woman’s body.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that on October 22, 2024, Miss Yusuf informed a friend that she was visiting a male friend she met on the iHappy dating website. She left her home to meet him in Coka. On October 23, around 7:30 a.m., she called her friend to say she was on her way home, which tragically was her last known contact before her body was found the following day.
“The body has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy. The Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, assures the public, particularly the family of the deceased, that a thorough investigation is underway, and justice will be served.
“The Commissioner also urges young women to exercise caution in their social interactions, especially with individuals met through dating websites and social media platforms.”
