Kano Hisbah declares Jigawa commissioner wanted over adultery allegation

The suspended Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara, has been listed as wanted by the Kano State Hisbah Board because he did not show up for a reconciliation meeting over the claim that he had an extramarital affair with a married woman.

The Commandant General of Hisbah, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, told reporters during a press conference in his office on Monday that the issue at hand necessitated a meeting with the parties concerned before taking any further action. However, he claimed that Sankara rejected the invitation to a reconciliation meeting.

“The commissioner chooses to ignore our moves at tackling the matter at our levels, hence the need to arrest him and prosecute him,” he stated.

According to Sheikh Daurawa, his office is “professionally known for Islamic virtues and reconciliatory actions on matters of this magnitude,” and when appropriate resolution is not achieved, legal action is often taken.
