Dangote Refinery denies fresh case against NNPCL, says Tinubu already addressing issues

Must read

Dangote Refinery has denied reports of a new legal case against the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), asserting that the matter stems from an earlier issue that began in June and culminated in legal proceedings filed on September 6, 2024.

The refinery revealed that discussions are ongoing following President Bola Tinubu’s directive regarding the sale of crude oil and refined products in naira, which was recently approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

“We have made tremendous progress in that regard, and events have overtaken this development,” stated Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communication Officer.

Chiejina emphasized that no party has been served with court documents, nor is there any intention to do so, as both parties have mutually agreed to suspend the proceedings.

He further clarified that no court orders have been issued, and there are no adverse effects on either party. The matter is expected to be formally addressed in court in January 2025, at which point the refinery intends to withdraw the case.

This statement seeks to clarify the situation amidst ongoing discussions and to dispel any misconceptions regarding the legal proceedings.
