Otti urges youths to join politics to shape their future

Must read

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has called on Nigerian youths to actively participate in politics in order to take control of their destinies and influence positive change.

He made the call during a church service at The Transforming Church in Abuja on Sunday.

Otti emphasized that every society gets the leadership it deserves, warning that if youths avoid politics, they risk leaving critical decisions about their future in the hands of others. “If you sit back and say politics is for politicians, the politicians will decide everything for you. I challenge all the young people here—don’t shy away from politics. That is where decisions about your future are made,” he said.

Drawing from Psalm 62:11, Otti reminded the congregation that power ultimately belongs to God, encouraging youths to pursue leadership positions to effect meaningful change. “You can make a lot of changes if you have power, and politics gives you the platform to create the changes you want to see in your community,” he added.

The governor shared his own journey, explaining that he left the banking sector in 2014 to join politics, driven by a desire to do things differently. He pointed out that holding political office allows him, as the governor of Abia State, to impact the lives of millions through his actions.

Otti also urged Christians to complement their prayers with hard work, stressing that this combination is key to achieving their goals and aspirations.

During the service, Pastor Sam Oye, lead pastor of The Transforming Church, delivered a sermon on the goodness of God, encouraging Nigerians to maintain their faith and continue pursuing their dreams. He also thanked Governor Otti for his visit and reaffirmed the church’s commitment to praying for those in leadership roles.
