Lagos govt detains birthday celebrant, four others for road blockage 

On Monday, the Lagos State government announced the arrest of five individuals for obstructing a road in the Ikoyi area during a birthday celebration.

Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, stated that the arrests occurred on Saturday, October 19, due to their actions constituting an environmental nuisance.

Those detained included the birthday celebrant, an event planner, a musician, and others for blocking traffic and causing disturbances. In a post on X, Wahab identified the arrested individuals as follows: Omolara Ajetumobi (event planner), Ogundare Olubunmi (celebrant), Ayodele Busuyi (musician), Owoeye Adedayo (sound engineer), and Akinola Akinkunmi (vendor).

“The suspects were apprehended for blocking Raymond Njoku Road in Southwest Ikoyi during the celebration,” Wahab explained.

He emphasized that the individuals would face trial in accordance with Lagos State laws and reiterated the government’s stance that no one is above the law and that state regulations must be upheld.
