Victor Ugo, a 25-year-old man, appeared before the Asaba Magistrates’ Court on Monday, facing charges for the alleged theft of N4,203,500.
Ugo, whose residence was not disclosed, is accused of stealing the funds belonging to GK Apartments Ltd. in Asaba via his FCMB account number 4910944617, registered under the name Patience Nwanfufe.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Prosecutor Susan John informed the court that the alleged crime occurred on October 12 on Anwai Road, near the Ibori Golf Club.
The charges against Ugo violate Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. C21, Vol. 1, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006.
Magistrate Edith Anumodu granted the defendant bail set at N1 million, requiring two sureties for the same amount.
She specified that the sureties must live within the court’s jurisdiction and be related to Ugo. They are also required to provide two passport photographs, electricity bills, and proof of identification.
The magistrate scheduled the case for a definite hearing on October 29.
