Again bandits blockade Zamfara highway, kill 2, kidnap RMAFC coordinator, others

Alhaji Bashir Abara Gummi, the Zamfara State Coordinator of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), and a number of other people have been kidnapped by bandits along the Funtua-Gusau Road.

Bandits reportedly blockade the popular Funtua-Gusau Road on Sunday and attacked many cars, including the coordinator’s vehicle, according to Daily Trust.

Commission sources disclosed that the incident occurred when Alhaji Gummi was travelling to Abuja on a formal duty.

Two people were immediately killed as the bandits opened fire on several moving cars, according to a security source with knowledge of the situation, before they abducted the coordinator and numerous other travellers.

“The bandits blocked the road and unfortunately, some vehicles fell victim to the kidnappers. They opened fire at the vehicles and abducted several travellers,” he said.

AFRIPOST learnt learnt that Alhaji Abubakar Dan Maliki, the Auditor General of Zamfara State, barely avoided the criminals when he managed to manoeuvre out of the area where the kidnapping occurred.

The Auditor General swiftly reversed course after witnessing the events involving the other drivers. He had arrived at the location just after the bandits had forcibly halted the first group of vehicles.
