Yoruba World Congress Worldwide (YWC) has advised the Federal Government of Nigeria and Kwara and Kogi State governments to ensure the protection of lives and property of the people of the two states.
The group also called on security agencies to fish out unscrupulous elements who are disturbing the peace of the people of the states especially those in the Kwara South Senatorial District and Kogi West Senatorial District
Reports indicated that some unscrupulous elements who are armed with dangerous weapons have been terrorising the people of Kwara South and Okun people in Kogi state.
A video has gone viral where the people of the areas mentioned raised alarm over the security situation in their communities.
The people in the video seen by our correspondent, called on the concerned authorities to do the needful to protect the lives and property of the people of the affected areas.
YWC in a statement made available to Afriposot through its Vice President, Engineer Adekunle Ogundana and Secretary General, Engineer Stephen Ajayi on Thursday called on the Federal Government of Nigeria, Kwara and Kogi state governments to ensure that the lives and properties of the people of these areas are protected.
The group in the statement, made particular reference to Kwara South and Kogi West.
The group said that the people of the areas should be protected from the marauding killer herdsmen, bandits and terrorist. They called for the need to ensure the safety of the entire region.
The group while speaking further, added that residents are fleeing their homes and farms which would have adverse effect on the food supply chain, the effect on the entire country cannot be overemphasised.

The statement reads “Yorùbá World Congress Worldwide (YWC) is using this medium to call on Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), Kwara and Kogi State governments to ensure the protection of lives and property of the people of the state.
“We are calling on security agencies to fish out unscrupulous elements who are disturbing the peace of the people of the states especially those in the Kwara south Senatorial District and Kogi West.
“The Federal government and all the arms of government should be more proactive in securing lives and properties rather than being reactive, it is not right to wait for the head to be cut off before shouting.
“We hereby call for the deployment of all necessary security apparatus and personnel in the entire area in order to prevent further damage to the psych of inhabitants of the affected communities”.
