The Kano State Hisbah Board has confirmed the arrest of Jigawa State’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara, over allegations of involvement in an illicit affair with a married woman.
Sankara was apprehended in an uncompleted building, reportedly owned by him, in the company of the woman.
The Director General of Hisbah, Abba Sufi, disclosed the arrest, stating that it followed numerous complaints about the commissioner’s immoral activities.
Sufi said, “We arrested Auwal Danladi Sankara after tracking him based on reports we received concerning his relationship with the married woman.”
The complaint against Sankara was initially filed by Nasiru Bulama, the woman’s husband, who accused the commissioner of engaging in an affair with his wife, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, the mother of their two children.
Bulama took his grievances to the Kano State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Hisbah Board.
In addition to the illicit affair, Sufi alleged that Sankara has been involved in running illegal drug centers disguised as hotels, which also serve as hubs for prostitution and drug addiction.
Hisbah plans to prosecute Sankara in court, with the case scheduled to begin on Monday.
