Charles Chinonso, 35, was remanded to Awarjigoh Correctional Centre by the Lagos State Adadagry Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Chinonso entered a guilty plea to a two-count charge of defilement and breach of peace, and Chief Magistrate A. J. Aina remanded him.
Additionally, Mr. Aina directed that the Director of Public Prosecutions be consulted on the case file.
He postponed discussion of the case until January 29, 2025.
The defendant committed the offences at No. 233 Alubarika Bus Stop, Ajangbadi in the Ojo neighbourhood of Lagos in July 2023 at around 8:00 p.m., the prosecution, Ayodele Adeosun, had previously informed the court.
The defendant “touched the girl’s private parts without her consent,” according to Mr. Adeosun.
Additionally, he said that if the girl disclosed his illegal conduct with her, the defendant would murder her.
According to the prosecution, the charges were against Sections 265, 263, and 168 of the Lagos State 2015 Criminal Laws.
