Panic swept through the Elewuro community in Ondo West Local Government Area on Wednesday evening after the gruesome murder of a 30-year-old man identified as “Delo.”
His body was found lifeless in his room, sparking fear and confusion among residents.
Reports suggest Delo was inside his room at the time of the incident, although the exact details surrounding his death remain unclear.
Alarm was raised when Delo’s brother knocked repeatedly on his door without receiving a response. Concerned neighbors forced open a window, only to find him lying motionless on his bed.
Officers from the Fagun Police Division were called to the scene and had to break down the door. Upon entry, they discovered bruises on Delo’s face, neck, and other parts of his body.
Delo’s brother was arrested when police found the victim’s phone in his possession prior to entering the room.
Efforts to interview the suspect were blocked as police restricted access following the arrest.
The police later transferred Delo’s body to the morgue.
The tragic death has shocked the community, leaving family members and friends in deep sorrow. Many gathered to mourn and express their concerns over the unsettling incident.
A police official confirmed that investigations are ongoing. Officers responded swiftly after receiving reports from tenants, securing the scene, recovering the body, and transferring the suspect to the State CID in Akure for further questioning.
