Grapefruit-sized cyst removed from Serena Williams’s neck

Serena Williams has opened up about a recent health scare, revealing that she had a cyst the size of a grapefruit surgically removed from her neck.

In a heartfelt TikTok video posted on Tuesday, the 43-year-old tennis legend shared how she first noticed the lump in May. After undergoing extensive medical evaluations, Williams, who is a mother of two, was relieved to learn the cyst was benign. However, its continued growth on her neck prompted concerns.

“It kept growing,” Williams explained in the video, highlighting the increasing size of the cyst. As it reached the size of a grapefruit, doctors recommended immediate surgical removal to prevent complications such as infection or leakage. Williams followed their advice and underwent the procedure.

In the video, she provided glimpses from her post-surgery recovery, expressing gratitude for her health and the successful outcome. “So this is me removing it,” she captioned the footage, adding, “I’m feeling so grateful and fortunate that everything worked out, and most of all, I’m healthy.”

The surgery marks another chapter in Williams’ resilient journey, balancing her roles as an athlete, mother, and now, a survivor of a serious health scare.
