BREAKING: PVC collection begins in Ondo ahead of governorship election

Must read

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially started distributing Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of Ondo State’s upcoming governorship election.

Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC national chairman, announced the commencement during a meeting with political party representatives at the INEC headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, October 17.

Yakubu stated: “With just 29 days to the Ondo State Governorship election, today’s meeting is crucial. Just two days ago, the Commission presented the voters’ register to political parties at our State office in Akure.”

He added that 10 out of the 13 activities outlined in the election’s Timetable and Schedule of Activities have been completed. The remaining tasks include the publication of the Notice of Poll, the final day of campaigning, and Election Day itself.

“To assist you, we have provided copies of the timetable in your folders for reference. Also, a summary of the polling and collation agents for the Ondo State election has been included. We are pleased to confirm that all political parties fielding candidates have fully complied with the upload requirements,” Yakubu continued.

INEC is working diligently to provide identification tags for each of the 24,148 agents listed on the Commission’s portal.

The distribution of PVCs began today, with residents able to collect their cards across Ondo State. From October 17 to 21, PVCs will be available for pickup at 203 wards across the state. Following this, they will be available at 18 Local Government Area offices from October 23 to 29.

As previously announced, the collection centres will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Yakubu also noted that a document containing the names and addresses of the 221 PVC collection centres has been uploaded to INEC’s official website for public access.
