Nationwide grid collapse: AEDC restores power in parts of Abuja

Power supply has been restored in several areas within the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) franchise following widespread outages on Monday evening.

Abuja, Nigeria’s capital and seat of government, has seen multiple national grid collapses since President Bola Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023.

Reports confirmed that areas such as Deidei, Suleja, Lugbe, Kuje, and others regained power on Tuesday around 5:15 a.m.

The AEDC had informed its customers about the disruption in electricity supply, attributing it to a national grid collapse.

In a statement released on its Twitter handle on Monday, the company confirmed the system collapse occurred at approximately 6:58 p.m.

“Rest assured, we are working with relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon as the grid stabilises,” the statement read.
