A two-storey building collapsed early Monday on Amusu Street, Orile Iganmu, Lagos State.
The collapse, which occurred around 8:45 a.m., caused nearby residents to flee in panic, as seen in a viral video circulating online.
According to the Head of the Public Affairs Unit at the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Nosa Okunbor, there were no casualties.
He confirmed that LASEMA’s response teams were on-site for search and rescue operations.
In a statement, Okunbor said, “The building collapsed on its own at about 8:45 a.m. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded. Our team is on the ground, and further updates will be provided.”
An anonymous LASEMA official added that the building had been evacuated prior to its collapse, preventing any injuries or fatalities.
Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene to assess the situation and ensure public safety.
This incident follows several other building collapses in Lagos this year, including a four-storey building on Lagos Island in May and a partial collapse of a residential quarters in Iyana Ipaja in July.
More details will be provided as the investigation continues.
