Ember: FRSC moves to improve road safety, traffic flow on Oyo road

In a proactive effort to enhance road safety and ensure smooth vehicular flow ahead of the busy Ember Months, the Ag. Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Chief Route Commander Femi Adeyemo pjsc, led a team from the RS11.312 Oolo Unit Command for an extensive road monitoring exercise along the Oolo – Oyo old and new roads.

The monitoring was conducted on recently, as part of the Command’s ongoing initiatives to complement home-grown road safety measures, particularly in anticipation of increased vehicular traffic during the year’s Ember Months.

According to the report of the exercise, the strategic operation aims to identify and address potential blackspots and blankspots on these vital routes.

Spanning approximately 98 kilometers, the Oolo – Oyo roads have recorded significant incidents of Obstructive Behaviour (OBS) and Road Traffic Collisions (RTC), underscoring the need for thorough monitoring.

The assessment will enable the FRSC to develop targeted strategies to mitigate risks and enhance overall traffic management during this critical period.

In addition to identifying trouble spots, the FRSC’s monitoring efforts are expected to hone in on enhancing road safety education among motorists and encouraging safer driving practices during the Ember Months, when road traffic typically rises.
