The new Divisional Police Officer (DPO) assigned to the Agbarho police station in Delta State’s Ughelli North Local Government Area a few days ago has reportedly been killed.
According to information obtained by SaharaReporters, his Orerokpo counterpart, CSP Paul, is presently in an unidentified hospital on life support in the state’s Okpe Local Government Area.
At around 1:30 am on Monday, the aforementioned publication received distress calls informing the new DPO that several people had been abducted and that their car was stuck at the Agbarho train station.
A source said, “Immediately, the new DPO contacted his Orerokpo counterpart and they mobilised and went to the area and unknown to them, the kidnappers ambushed them and fired at them.
“The new Agbarho DPO was killed, his Orerokpo counterpart was seriously wounded and rushed to an undisclosed hospital. Other policemen in the team were also killed but we don’t know how many they are for now.
“The Agbarho DPO just resumed duty two days ago and as we talk, his wife is still in the hotel where he was called from. The wife is not even aware as we talk now that his husband has been killed by kidnappers.”
All attempts to reach SP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), for comments were unsuccessful, and he did not return calls either.
Additionally, when SMS messages were sent to him, he did not respond.
