In the teeth of barefaced political turmoil, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the list of all members of the Benue State Executive Committee (SEC), affirming the legitimacy and authority of the Ezekiel Adaji-led executives.
AFRIPOST reports that the opposition party had since been embroiled in leadership crisis which conspicuously led to suspension of some key officers of the party at the National level.
However, the Benue State Publicity Secretary, Tim Nyor, in a statement said the NWC of the party had approved the SEC list, while he called for unity.
Part of the statement reads, “The confirmation by the PDP NWC has brought to an end the misinformation and outright mischief by certain individuals who were claiming that there is a parallel Executive Committee of the party in Benue State.
“Any individual or group of persons attempting to claim affiliation or parade themselves as members of an executive committee, apart from the one duly recognized by the PDP National Secretariat is engaging in illegality and grossly violating the Constitution of our party.
“The Benue State Chapter of PDP remains committed to the principles of democracy and upholds the rule of law.
“The Benue State Executive Committee headed by the Chairman, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji remains loyal to the leadership hierarchy of the party and will continue to support the Ambassador Umar Damagum-led National Working Committee, as well as all other organs of the party.
“The Benue PDP SEC remains grateful to leaders of our party and other stakeholders for the confidence reposed in it and reassures that it will not let the party down.
“We call upon party members to unite in support of the State Executive Committee to enable it to foster party solidarity and reconciliation.
As a party, we must continue, above all other interests, with our mission of delivering good governance to the people of Benue State at all times.
