PDP crisis worsens as group appoints new Acting National Chairman

Following the suspension of Illiya Damagum as the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the National Working Committee (NWC), led by the Debo Ologunagba group, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Yayari Ahmed Mohammed as the new Acting National Chairman.

This decision was announced in a statement signed by the recently suspended National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

According to the statement, the appointment takes immediate effect and is in accordance with the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).

The NWC urged all party organs, leaders, stakeholders, and members to remain united during this critical period. Preparations are already underway for the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, scheduled for Thursday, October 24, 2024.

This leadership change occurs amidst escalating internal tensions within the PDP.
