An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, sentenced Adebisi Ayobami to one month of community service on Wednesday for stealing a crate of eggs.
The 25-year-old defendant, who has no fixed address, faced a one-count charge and pleaded guilty. Magistrate Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair ordered that Ayobami complete the community service and be released thereafter.
The magistrate noted that Ayobami is a first-time offender and that the stolen crate of eggs had been recovered and returned to the complainant, Bayo Adewale.
Prosecutor Inspector Oladejo Balogun informed the court that Ayobami committed the theft on Thursday around 1:00 p.m. in the Moniya area of Ibadan, taking the eggs without the complainant’s permission, which violated Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
