Rivers crisis: Wike pretentious character, liar with no iota of integrity – Dino Melaye

As the Rivers State political crisis further escalates, PDP chieftain and former Senator Dino Melaye has called out the current minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike while tagging him a pretentious character and a liar with no iota of integrity.

In a TV interview that has now gone viral on social media, Dino Melaye insisted on how Wike remains a pretentious liar, while threatening to open the cans of worms and maggots he has on the current FCT minister.

Dino Melaye said: “His territory that he (Wike) is trying to practice is my primary constituency and I am waiting for him. He is a pretentious character, he is a liar and he has no iota of integrity.”

The former senator continued further, “Wike was calling me when Atiku Abubakar was to announce his running mate. I have records, I have printed it out and I am waiting for him. He called me 19 times in 2 hours begging us to convince Atiku Abubakar to make him his Vice Presidential candidate.”

Meanwhile, following the escalation of violence that preceded the Rivers State LG elections, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed the police to promptly restore and uphold peace, law, and order in Rivers State.

The President expressed grave worry about the violence in a statement released on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, his special assistant on information and strategy. The President asked all political players to defuse the situation and dissuade their followers from acting in a damaging manner.

President Tinubu issued a call to action, stressing the need to secure the security of public institutions and ordering law enforcement authorities to put the situation under control.

He emphasised that public buildings constructed by the government should be protected from destruction and that self-help is inappropriate in a democracy, particularly following 25 years of nonstop democracy.

He challenged the state’s political elite, including Siminalayi Fubara, the governor, to maintain law and order and to use restraint. He also tasked them with persuading their followers on all sides to desist from using violence.

President Tinubu underlined that all political conflicts may be resolved by the courts, and the Rivers State LG election’s result should be no different.
