The Ogun State police command has detained 20-year-old Faisal Audu on suspicion of stabbing and killing a hunter in the state’s Sagamu local government area, identified as Saheed Awolesi.

According to the Ogun state police report, it was stated that the deceased had gone hunting on Saturday but failed to return home.

The wife of the deceased and head of the Hunters Association’s Sagamu branch, Tajudeen Adetayo, reported the missing case to the command, according to Omolola Odutola, the spokeswoman for the command.

She took note of the facts and reported that the suspect had been taken into custody after he had admitted to the crime.

Among the items found were the deceased’s Bajaj motorbike stolen by the suspect, a Tecno phone, a cutlass and a jackknife.

Odutola said, “On October 6, 2024, around 2:30 PM, Adetutu Awolesi, a female resident of Ifeloju Agbele Sagamu, accompanied by Chief Tajudeen ADETAYO, the chairman of the Hunters Association Sagamu Chapter, reported to the police station that her husband, Saheed Awolesi, had not returned from night hunting since he left home on October 5, 2024, around 7:00 pm.

“Following this report, a call was made to the victim’s phone and answered by a detective at Ibafo Police Station who informed that a 20-year-old suspect, Faisal Audu, had been apprehended with a Bajaj motorcycle (registered KNN 555 QC X), a cutlass, a jackknife, and a Tecno phone suspected to be stolen.”

She mentioned that the deceased’s body was brought to the Sagamu mortuary of Live-Well Hospital for an autopsy.

The matter would shortly be passed to SCID for a comprehensive investigation, Odutola promised, and attempts were still being made to apprehend any other suspects who may have escaped the scene or involved in the attack.
