A popular activist and human right lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has confirmed that the singer and controversial social media sensation, Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, said to be missing is being detained by the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja.
Adeyanju revealed that Speed Darlington, also known as Akpi was arrested in Lagos last Friday and subsequently transferred to Abuja, where he has remained in detention since.
He claimed that the arrest was based on a formal complaint from Grammy Award-winning artist, Burna Boy.
He, however, did not give details of the petition.
The activist revealed this in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.
He wrote, “We just spent the last 30mins with Speed Darlington and he narrated how he was arrested in Lagos Friday last week, moved around and eventually brought to Abuja and has been in detention since then. Petition against him was written by Burna Boy, we can confirm.”
Afripost had reported that a social media influencer, Constance Nwogu, raised an alarm regarding the alleged disappearance of Speed Darlington.
