No LG elections held in Rivers, observer group claims

The Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness (CCLCA) has asserted that no local government elections were conducted in Rivers State, alleging that the results were pre-written, with the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) merely announcing the winners.

Dr. Gabriel Nwambu, the Director General of CCLCA, made this statement during a live broadcast on AIT. He stated, “There was no actual election in Rivers State; the results were already predetermined, and what occurred was merely the announcement of winners.”

Nwambu criticized the process, labeling it a mockery of democracy, and claimed it undermined the landmark Supreme Court ruling issued on July 11. He accused state governors of grossly misusing established electoral practices.

Protests erupted in response to the elections, with members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) taking to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with the electoral process.
