Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District on the platform of All Progressives Congress, Barrister Sharafadeen Alli has declared that teachers in the country deserved more incentives.
Alli who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Electoral Matter, made this disclosure in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday.
Alli, advised the various levels of government to dedicate more resources to the education sector.
The lawmaker made these assertions in a statement issued to celebrate with the teachers on the occasion of this year’s World Teachers’ Day.
Alli in the statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, described teachers as invaluable assets to the nation.
He used the opportunity to laud their dedication to shaping the future of the country through education.
He emphasised the critical role teachers play in the moulding of young minds and the overall advancement of society.
He pointed out that educators are not just transmitters of knowledge but also mentors and role models.
The lawmaker while speaking further, then advised various levels of government to dedicate more resources to the education sector.
He added teachers’ commitment to nurturing future leaders is the foundation of national development and growth.”
Alli stressed the need for increased support for teachers.
He called on governments at all levels to prioritise policies that can improve their welfare, training and working conditions of teachers across the country.
Alli said, “Our teachers deserve nothing less than the best, as they continue to equip our youths with the skills, values and knowledge necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world.
“I acknowledged the challenges teachers face, particularly in developing countries and urged that more resources be dedicated to the education sector.
“I called on stakeholders to work collaboratively towards ensuring that teachers receive the recognition, respect and compensation they rightly deserved”.
