Benue PDP new exco receives handover from outgone caretaker state working committee

The newly inaugurated State Working Committee, SWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue State on Friday received handover notes from the outgoing State Caretaker Working Committee led by Senator Napoleon Bali.

Performing the ceremony at No. 16 Abdullahi Shelleng road in Makurdi, Senator Bali who was represented by the Caretaker Secretary, Hon. Osita Ogene charged the new executives of the party in the state to ensure that the party returns to power in 2027 in the state.

He commended the National Chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum for ensuring the conduct of credible congresses in the state to fill the vacuum created by the expiration of the tenure of the immediate past party executives.

Hon. Osita disclosed that the Caretaker State Working Committee could not handover to the newly inaugurated State Working Committee at the party’s secretariat located at No.1 Ochagu Lawani Street because they were warned not to go to the Secretariat as the place was under lock and key, and even those who went to the Secretariat couldn’t gain entry.

He debunked insinuations that the PDP had a parallel state executive, stressing that the party conducted only one state congress which produced Rt. Hon Ezekiel Adaji as State Chairman and was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the Department of State Security, DSS, the Nigerian Police and all relevant agencies.

The Caretaker Secretary appreciated the leader of the PDP in Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom, the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Patrick Abba Moro, Senator Gabriel Suswam and others for the support extended to the outgoing Caretaker State Working Committee in the course of their assignment.

Responding on behalf of the new State executives of the PDP, the Benue State PDP Chairman, Rt. Hon Ezekiel Adaji, appreciated the Caretaker State Working Committee for piloting the affairs of the party and ensuring a credible Congress in the state.

He disclosed that the State Working Committee would immediately commence a reconciliation process to guarantee all party members a sense of belonging to ensure that the party wins the 2027 elections in the state.
