Zenith bank completes tech upgrade, apologizes to customers

Zenith Bank has announced the completion of its information technology infrastructure upgrade and has apologised for the pain inflicted on its customers as a result of the upgrade.

Recall that Customers had lamented as the Bank shut down its services nationwide

The services affected were all internet based transactions including mobile, internet, and USSD transfers. Also affected were SMS and other online- related services.

Majority of its mobile and internet users had been unable to login to their internet and mobile apps as they constantly got error messages of “ an error has occurred. Please try again later.”

Recall that the bank had earlier issued a notice on its app that it was carrying out a routine maintenance which was going to last from between 12am to 2pm on Tuesday. While most customers were still questioning why such maintenance should be allowed on a public holiday, the bank services did not return until after 24 hours. This has further infuriated customers who currently drag the bank on social media.

Some customers had consequently threatened to transfer their money from the bank immediately the app returns and stop further banking with the organization.

But to the greatest shock of the bank’s customers, a new notice was posted on the Bank’s Twitter handle on Wednesday where it further extended its maintenance to the second day.

Twitter users had since expressed their disappointment over the bank’s operations and alerted the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, on the issue.
