CSO rejects call for suspended Beta Edu’s reinstatement

Must read

A civil society organization, CSO, has opposed Celcilia Ogbeche Odok’s appeal for the reinstatement of Dr. Beta Edu as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development.

The CSO maintained that Dr. Edu’s suspension is crucial for investigating the allegations against her, promoting accountability and transparency in governance.

In a statement, spokesman Comrade Gremma Ibrahim Musa stressed the need for integrity to take precedence over emotional considerations for the progress of Nigeria.

“Upholding due process is essential, and Dr. Edu’s suspension helps prevent any possible interference or obstruction,” he stated.

The organization urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to withstand pressure from self-interested parties, warning that bringing Dr. Edu back could compromise Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts and erode public trust.

“If President Tinubu gives in to this emotional manipulation, we will advocate for a pro-people government in 2027,” the group warned.

Additionally, the CSO called on the National Assembly to support President Tinubu’s initiatives, with a focus on accountability and transparency.
