The Commissioner of Police (CP) Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has promised to sustain the cordial working relationship and synergy between his command and 9 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA).
CP Fayoade made the pledge while playing host to the Commander 9 Brigade NA, Brigadier General Olawale Matthew Oyekola. The CP disclosed that his command has been receiving a lot of criminals arrested by the troops of 9 Brigade NA.
This he said has greatly assisted and contributed immensely to maintenance of law and order by the police in the Lagos State.
He expressed his delight at the effort of Brigadier General Oyekola to make the courtesy call realistic within the shortest possible time on assuming command. He stated that the coming of the Brigade Commander to his office without much bureaucracy indicated his readiness to partner with Lagos State Police Command in sustaining the existing peaceful atmosphere in Lagos State.
In his remarks, Brigadier General Oyekola stated that following his assumption of command on 21 August 2024, he felt the need to pay the CP a visit as a key stake holder in the security architecture of Lagos State. He said that it is imperative to acknowledge that the police is the lead agency in the internal security plan of the State. He gave the assurance that the police should have the confidence that the military is readily available to support when called upon to do so. He assured that the knowledge of mutual support from both agencies would certainly boost the morale of personnel to professionally discharge their duties.
He used the opportunity to appreciate the General Officer Commanding 81 Division for his guidance, which has brought about a much improved relationship between the NA and Lagos State Police Command. He equally appreciated the CP for the audience despite the short notice and congratulated him on his recent promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.
