A 32-year-old man, David Raymond, who allegedly stole a generator set valued at N340,000 was on Tuesday charged before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court.
Raymond, of Degel 1 Ungwan Rimi Kaduna, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 19, at about 1.00 p.m. at Ungwan Rimi Kaduna.
Leo said that the accused and two others now at large stole a generator set valued at N340, 000 belonging to Ayomide Daramola.
He said the accused was caught and handed over to the police with the said generator while the others ran away.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Emmanuel ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and swear to an affidavit of means.
He directed that the surety should produce a one-year tax clearance and submit a recent passport photograph to the court.
The magistrate also said that the address of the surety should be verified by the police.
