Our intention is to discover more brilliant students in Ibadan- CCII

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has said that the major intention of the organisation is to discover more brilliant and talented students who are indigenes of the ancient city.

Chairman of 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Week, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola made this declaration on Friday.

He spoke while addressing the guests and well-wishers during the grand finale of the 2024 Ibadan Inter -Local Government Schools’ Quiz, Spelling Bee and Essay Competitions.

Our correspondent reports that the competitions was organised by CCII for students of public primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.

The event held at Ibadan House located at Oke Aremo was organised by CCII as parts of 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Week.

Some of the dignitaries who attended the event included the Ashipa Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Abiodun Kola-Daisi, CCII President General and Chief Adeniyi Ajewole and Chairman of Erudite Millennium, Chief Saheed Oladele.

Students from public primary, secondary and tertiary institutions who are indigenes of Ibadan participated in the competitions.

Ojetola while speaking noted that the programme was organised so as to discover more talents in the area of education.

“You children are our future. We want to discover talented students in our schools. We want to discover them.

“We spent three months to organise the preliminary of this competition. We have spent a lot of money.

“CCII will not be given scholarships to 200 students on yearly basis. We are looking for people who will make us proud”.
