CCII announces yearly scholarships for brilliant students

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has announced its plans to award yearly scholarships to brilliant students who are indigenes of the ancient city.

President General of the organisation, Chief Adeniyi Ajewole made this declaration while addressing guests and well-wishers during the grand finale of the 2024 Ibadan Inter -Local Government Schools’ Quiz, Spelling Bee and Essay Competitions.

The event was held at Ibadan House located at Oke Aremo on Friday.

Some of the dignitaries who attended the event included the Ashipa Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Abiodun Kola-Daisi and Chairman of the occasion, Ambassador Abass Adewale Kadiri.

Others are; Chairman of Erudite Millennium Limited, Chief Saheed Oladele, Chairman of the education sub-commitee, Professor Remi Raji-Oyelade and Chairman of 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Week, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola.

Other invited guests at the event included Oloye Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke who is also the Chairman of Solutions FM and Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abduwaheed Adelabu.

Our correspondent reports that students from public primary, secondary and tertiary institutions who are indigenes of Ibadan participated in the competitions.

Ajewole, while speaking announced that CCII will now award scholarships to students from the ancient city on yearly basis.

“CCII will now be giving scholarships to brilliant students from Ibadan every year. This is a way to encourage the students.

Kadiri in his address commended the CCII for the initiative.

The chairman of the occasion also commended the students who participated in the competitions.

Ojetola while speaking noted that the programme was organised so as to discover more talents in the area of education.

“You children are our future. We want to discover talented students in our schools. We want to discover them.

“We spent three months to organise the preliminary of this competition. We have spent a lot of money”.

Our correspondent reports that winners and participants in the competitions went home with many prizes.
