Gov Yusuf gives dethroned Kano Emirs 48 hours to hand over

 

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has directed the five Emirs who were dethroned by the Kano State Emirate Council Law 2024 passed by the state House of Assembly on Thursday, May 23, to vacate their palaces within the next 48 hours.

The Governor, after the dethroning of the Emirs, restored Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi to the position of Emir of Kano.

Those affected by the directive are five emirs who were installed by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led administration.

The former governor had split the Kano Emirate by creating an additional four emirates.

The created Emirates were Karaye, Gaya, Bichi and Rano.

However, Yusuf on Thursday, May 23, dethroned Alh. Aminu Ado Bayero and four other first-class emirs in the state.
