Suspected armed herdsmen terrorizing Benue State have again attacked Aliko community of the state and killed nine persons, including a pregnant woman.
The gunmen, numbering over 15 invaded the area on Sunday around 4 pm in Usha Council Ward, Agatu Local Government area of Benue state.
Hon.Yakubu Ochepo, the chairman of Agatu Local Government area confirmed the attack.
According to Ochepo, over 500 persons were displaced and many others were wounded.
“Seven corpses have been recovered, including a pregnant woman and other victims,” he said.
Ochepo called on the State and Federal Governments to provide security to the People of Agatu so that they can go back to their farming activities.
Agatu, a town located in Benue South Senatorial District, has been under sustained herdsmen attacks since January 2024.
Benue State Command Police said it was yet to get the report on the incident when contacted.
