Adamawa Police Command deploys operatives ahead of NLC protest

The Adamawa State Police Command on Monday, deployed officers and men to ensure safety of lives during the planned protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC.

The Command also cautioned members of the public against violent activities.

It further stated that the measure is a bid to reassure citizens of its commitment towards ensuring their safety during the nationwide protests scheduled for 27th and 28th February 2024, adding that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has deployed operational and manpower assets to adequately ensure a hitch-free conduct of the procession across the state.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje.

The statement partly read: “Ahead of the planned nationwide protest, the Adamawa State Police Command has deployed a high visibility police patrol to major areas, including government installations, private/public warehouses, hospitals, schools, markets, residential areas, among others””.

“The Command has taken into account that every citizen has constitutional rights to peaceful protest. However, the protesters are strongly warned to ensure all processions are conducted within the context of the law, as the Command will exercise its full legal powers to ensure no one’s rights are violated”.

“The Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies in the state, will not hesitate to halt any individual or groups that may willfully hide behind these peaceful protests to cause a breakdown of law and order in the state”.
