Owukpa people, under the community development advocate group, Owukpa Advocacy Forum (OAF) have commended the executive governor of Benue State Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia over the appointment of their son, Dr. Matthew Onojah as the Executive Secretary of the state’s Hospitals Management Board.

A statement signed on behalf of OAF Trustees by  Hon. David Otobo hailed Alia for considering Onojah whom they tagged a worthy son of Owukpa for such an important appointment in the state.

The statement further expressed confidence that Mr Onojah would deliver on the new task placed before him.

OAF also extended the gratitude of Owukpa people to the Honourable Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Prof. Yanman Ortese for his role in the appointment of Dr. Onojah.

“We’re pleased that His Excellency, Gov. Alia has considered our two sons worthy to serve the state in his government.

“At first, it was the appointment of our dear son, Honourable Odoh Ugwu as Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate change. Now, it is another of our own, Dr. Matthew Onojah. We deeply appreciate the honour accorded the people of Owukpa.

“We appreciate the determination of his Excellency to change the Benue political landscape and narrative for the best.”

The Benue group also called on the state governor to compliment his efforts by addresing the many challenges associated with lack of basic amenities in Owukpa.

“We also wish to use this opportunity to call the attention of Gov. Alia to the lack of access roads, zero electricity and zero health facility, and lack of good source of water in Owukpa community. Our community is in dire need of these essential and basic amenities. Since inception, we have enjoyed none.

“We pray that the good Lord will strengthen his Excellency to do the needful in those areas and create the much needed impactful history in our time.”
