Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has presented cheques of N34,264,159.03 to 33 families of deceased police officers in Kogi State.
The presentation was made by the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Berthrand Onuoha, represented by Baraymill Samaila Ahmadu, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, at the command headquarters in Lokoja on Wednesday.
According to the statement by SP William Ovye Aya, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the cheques were given to families of deceased officers who died in active service, as well as those who were injured in accidents while carrying out official duties.
The statement added that the gesture was part of the welfare package aimed at improving the well-being of the families of the deceased officers and also supporting officers who are victims of accidents.
“The Nigeria Police recognise the sacrifices made by the officers. The Commissioner is urging the accident victims to take care of themselves and has charged the families of the deceased to use the money to improve their living conditions,” Aya added.
