Another Rivers commissioner quits

The political crisis in Rivers State has taken a new twist as the Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Woke, quit Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s cabinet.

This is coming after Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor, SAN, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, resigned his appointment.

Adangor served in the same capacity in the immediate past administration of Nyesom Wike.

Woke, who also served as a Chief of Staff under the former governor, was appointed by Fubara, the present state’s governor as his Commissioner for Special Duties.

The resigned commissioner, Woke confirmed his resignation to our correspondent on the telephone on Thursday evening.

“Yes, I have resigned as the Commissioner for Special Duties today, ” he said.

When asked if there was any reason for his resignation, he said, “When you get the soft copy of my letter of resignation, you will get the reason.”

Both Adangor and Woke are said to be strong allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike.
