A man identified as Onoh Chukwuma from Arochukwu in Abia State has reportedly taken his own life after staking N2.5 million with a sport betting platform.
It was learnt that Onoh Chukwuma died on Tuesday after taking an insecticide called sniper.
Prior to his death, Chukwuma in a post on his Facebook page, told his followers that Tuesday would be his last day on earth.
“Today is my last day on earth! I’m going to meet my maker. Thank you Chima Anyaso
, Ikukuoma Abia, Kelvin Jombo Onumah, Ekwueme Ohafia and my friends. My spirit is with you all”, he wrote.
Chukwuma subsequently went live on his page looking worried but refused to answer questions from his followers on why he intended taking his own life.
According to reports, the young man had prior to the post, taken the poison. He was rushed to the Madonna Hospital Umuahia where doctors endeavored to revive him but failed.
It was gathered that the deceased allegedly borrowed and staked the N2.5 million with a betting platform.
When contacted, the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, said she was in a conference in Uyo, saying she will revert later.
“Am in a conference in Uyo, I will get back to you”, she said.
